Scam alert: people's postcode lottery scam email |
||
|
Please beware of an email that's doing the rounds again after last year. It claims to be for the People's Postcode Lottery and offers a free scratch card advent calendar. As is the way with these emails, the sender address is suspicious, and there are tell tale signs in the urgency it tries to use to get people to respond stating “today only” and “act now”. This is not a genuine offer and it's not from the People's Postcode Lottery. Please be wary of emails like this that offer large cash prizes. They often use brand names to try to add authenticity and rely on some people being signed up to the official service and assuming it's therefore legitimate. If you are not sure, stop, think fraud - especially when you are asked to make a payment or give your details.
