We are investigating a collision where a woman is reported to have let go of a pushchair, allowing it to roll directly into the path of an on-coming lorry. We're looking to identify the woman.
We received a call into our Force Control Room at 12.21pm on Monday 5 January to report a collision where a woman appeared to let go of the buggy which subsequently collided with the on-coming lorry. The incident happened along the A16, at the junction with Middlegate Road West, Kirton.
As the buggy was struck ‘a white or pink bundle’ was seen to fly up into the air, initially believed to be a baby. After significant police, drone, and ambulance attendance, extensive searches confirmed that no baby appeared to be in the buggy and no pushchair was left at the scene.

Police have identified the driver and spoken with him. We are now keen to speak with the woman.
The woman is described as being in her twenties, wearing a three-quarter length brown jacket and trousers.
It is believed the woman was walking along Middlegate Road West, Kirton, and made as if to cross the A16 to Middlegate Road East toward Frampton.
Officers have conducted extensive house to house, CCTV, and dashcam enquiries. We are now reaching out to our community to see if anyone remembers this woman, recognises the description and may have seen her with an empty pushchair in the time leading up to the collision.
This was naturally a very distressing incident for those involved and we would like to identify and speak with the woman concerned to make sure that she is ok as we are concerned for her welfare.
