We are appealing for witnesses after a man was allegedly seen kicking a dog

We are investigating a report that a man was allegedly seen kicking and dragging a dog by its collar.

We are appealing for witnesses, as well as anyone with dash‑cam footage, CCTV, or doorbell recordings, who may have seen a person walking a sandy‑coloured lurcher‑type dog in the Metheringham area. We are particularly interested in sightings around Dunston Road between 4:00pm and 5:30pm on Wednesday 18 February 2026.

A 56‑year‑old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing unnecessary suffering to an animal and has been released under investigation. The dog has been seized by police and is safe.
