Courier fraud attempts around Boston and the Wolds

We are urging people to remain vigilant after residents around Boston and the Wolds were targeted with attempted ‘courier frauds’ over the past few days.

Also known as ‘police impersonator fraud’ criminals pose as police officers telling the resident to take money out of their bank and hand it over to a courier. They will claim this is part of an investigation.  

So, we could really use your help in sharing our key message: the police and your bank will NEVER ask for your PIN or bank card. They will NEVER ask you to withdraw cash or buy items like gold bullion, jewellery, or any other high value goods on their behalf. They will NEVER send a courier to pick up cash or your bank card by courier.

Please, remain vigilant and share this message far and wide to help protect your friends and family. These fraudsters have been unsuccessful in their recent attempts to steal money and this may be, in part, due to prior awareness of this being a scam.
