Heavy traffic expected on the A17 from Newark to Bicker Bar |
||
|
A transformer weighing 182 tonnes is being transported across part of Lincolnshire at the moment.
The abnormal load is now leaving Newark and is going to be joining the A17.
It will travel through to Bicker Bar. There will be no availability for motorists to overtake during this section, so we anticipate this will cause heavy traffic in the area.
Please avoid the area if you can.
Here's what we published yesterday:
We will be assisting the load from Goole and taking it to Bicker Fen National Grid Substation. Once we exit the M18 the load will be joining the A1 and then coming off at the A17 for 30 miles before exiting at Bicker Bar roundabout and on to Donington Road. The abnormal load will be travelling somewhere between 35-45mph and could cause some disruption. We are unable to move it during the hours of darkness as most of the roads in Lincolnshire are not fully lit and for the overall safety of our road users, the abnormal load crew and our officers, we move abnormal loads when it is safe to do so. We know it can be frustrating being delayed on the road and we thank you for your patience. | ||
