Moving a load this size safely across the county takes skill and planning |

|
Apologies if you were delayed last Saturday as a result of an abnormal load being moved through the county. We've been sent this lovely picture by a family whose youngest boy wanted to see the abnormal load. We know people can be fascinated or at least curious to see these huge loads move. Our officers love to see people taking pics and taking an interest in what is an unusual sight. Often drivers can be so far behind you can't see what the disruption is ...... we thought we'd show you. The load was a transformer weighing 182 tonnes and we escorted it along the M18, A1 before joining the A17. The load exited at Bicker Bar roundabout and onto Donington Road; with the final destination being Bicker Fen National Grid Substation. The picture shows how low slung and long the haulier's vehicle was. Negotiating around corners, roundabouts and missing cables across the roads need careful planning and importantly day light too. As always, we work closely with the driver and the staff tasked with moving these loads and we're grateful for their skill and patience.
