Man arrested after member of public reported suspected drug deal in Stamford |

A 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of drug offences after a member of the public called police after witnessing what they believed to a drug deal taking place from a car close to the shops on Green Lane in Stamford on Wednesday 22 April. Our Roads Policing Unit (RPU) responded and swiftly located the vehicle which they followed whilst tactics were put in place to stop it safely. The vehicle was finally stopped by the RPU officers at a service station in Corby, Northamptonshire. The driver and vehicle were searched and a quantity of snap bags including white powder were located. A quantity of cash within snap bags was also located. The driver also admitted to officers that he did not have a driving licence or insurance. He also failed a roadside drug test which was positive for cocaine. The man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply, driving whilst over prescribed limit of drugs, driving whilst otherwise in accordance with licence, driving without insurance. His vehicle was also seized. He has been released under investigation for all offences whilst further enquiries are completed.
