The new PCSOs have now been deployed on their respective beats for approximately two weeks and have quickly begun establishing positive relationships within their communities. They are already making progress in addressing the neighbourhood priorities that have been set for them.

I would also like to make residents aware of the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA) funding available through Lincolnshire Police. Administered by the Lincolnshire Police and Crime Commissioner, these funds are dedicated to supporting local crime prevention and community safety initiatives. The funding is not solely intended for policing operations; it can be invested in projects that help reduce crime, tackle anti-social behaviour (ASB), and improve community wellbeing.

Organisations and individuals can apply for grants of up to £5,000. I am keen to work with local groups and community organisations across West Lindsey to ensure strong applications are submitted and that money seized from criminals is reinvested back into the communities affected by crime. In the early hours of 12 July, a resource-intensive incident took place on Lady Meers Road, Cherry Willingham, during which officers engaged in prolonged negotiations with a male inside a property. The incident lasted several hours and resulted in a significant police presence in the area, which may have caused disruption to local residents.

I would like to thank the community for their patience and understanding while officers worked to bring the situation to a safe and successful conclusion. The incident ultimately ended with the male being arrested and charged.

Lukasz Korba, 39, of Lady Meers Road, Cherry Willingham, has been charged with threats to kill, intentional strangulation, and actual bodily harm (ABH). He was refused bail and appeared before Lincoln Magistrates' Court on 13 July.

On 13 July, a flatbed Transit vehicle was stolen from Mill Lane, Saxilby. Following police enquiries, three males aged 26, 21 and 20 were arrested in connection with the offence. All three have since been released on bail while investigations continue.

A further vehicle theft occurred on 13 July in Bardney, where a Transit van and trailer were stolen. The owner disturbed the offenders and followed the vehicle whilst maintaining contact with police. As a result, the offenders abandoned the vehicle before officers arrived and fled the scene.

A third vehicle theft took place in North Willingham, where a Ford Transit tipper, trailer and plant equipment were stolen. The trailer and plant equipment have since been recovered; however, the Ford Transit tipper remains outstanding.

On 15 July, following reports of a moped being ridden in an anti-social manner at Aisby Walk Skate Park, officers located and seized the vehicle under Section 59 powers. The rider, Jake Jarvill, 31, of Trinity Court, Gainsborough, has been charged with several driving offences, including driving whilst above the prescribed alcohol limit.

Police also seized a further moped from Queensway, Gainsborough, following reports that it was being ridden anti-socially on pavements and posing a danger to pedestrians.

A 31-year-old male operating in the Gainsborough area was arrested on 16 July in connection with suspected roofing fraud offences and remains on police bail.

I would encourage residents to undertake appropriate checks before commissioning work from tradespeople and to ensure that any statutory cooling-off period is provided where applicable. Rogue traders can cause significant harm to both residents and the many honest, hardworking tradespeople operating within our communities.

The Neighbourhood Policing Team has been made aware of a significant incident of ASB that occurred at the Lidl store in Gainsborough on 16 July involving a number of youths. The incident has been described by the West Lindsey District Council CCTV operator as among the most serious examples of ASB they have witnessed whilst in post.  Enquiries are ongoing, and any identified criminal offences will be robustly investigated. Lincolnshire Police and West Lindsey District Council remain committed to a joint partnership approach to tackling ASB across West Lindsey, recognising the considerable impact such behaviour can have on residents and local businesses.

On 19 July, following reports of a male making threats involving a weapon, officers conducted an armed arrest at a property on Trinity Street, Gainsborough. While this resulted in a significant police presence in the area, the arrest was carried out safely and without incident.

West Lindsey has recently experienced an increase in burglary offences, with two distinct series currently under investigation.

The first involves a number of "sneak-in" burglaries within Gainsborough, where offenders have entered properties through unlocked or insecure front doors and stolen items such as wallets, handbags and other valuables before quickly leaving the address. Following extensive enquiries, a 49-year-old male was arrested on 21 July in connection with burglary and shop theft offences. He has since been released on bail pending further investigation.

The second burglary series relates to offences in the Glentworth area, where enquiries remain ongoing.

The Together Initiative will be holding its annual Games by the Hall event on 6th August at Gainsborough Old Hall.

This fantastic free community event offers a wide range of activities for all ages, including arts and crafts, birds of prey displays, and a variety of family-friendly games and entertainment. There may even be a few Vikings making a special appearance throughout the day.

For families looking for free and enjoyable activities during the summer holidays, this event is well worth attending and promises to be an excellent day out for the local community.
