CONCERNS OVER INCREASE IN DWELLING BURGLARIES AND OBSERVATIONS FOR SUSPICOUS VEHICLE

Alert message sent 04/12/2018 16:17:00

Information sent on behalf of Lincolnshire Police

In recent weeks we have seen a concerning and significant increase in dwelling burglaries.  Properties, predominantly in rural areas, appear to be being identified when the occupants are away from their address.  Method of entry tends to be by breaking patio door windows and once inside jewellery and cash being targetted.  In the vast majority of occasions the area identified to gain entry has been to the rear of the property which in the main is secluded from view from neighbouring properties and the road.

Observations are requested for a grey Vauxhall Corsa please potentially linked to these offences.  Partial registration number is YX16 **M.  Any sightings of this vehicle please ring 101 and quote incident 282, 3/12/18.

Can we please urge you all to remain vigilant and report anything suspicious to us.  You will never be wasting our time and that small piece of information that you feel isn't worthy of reporting may be significant to us.  When you're going away, don't advertise your property as being empty by putting it on social media.  Tell your neighbours, friends and family and share your experiences when you return.  DON'T MAKE YOURSELF A TARGET!

I would also underline the importance of 'target hardening' yourselves and your property.  CCTV systems are in the main very affordable and invaluable, not just to you, but us and your neighbours too.  There are numerous very good systems available on the market and you don't have to be a DIY expert to install them with some being battery operated.  They can link in with your WIFI and you can access very clear images directly from your home computer systems and mobile phone.  For a relatively small price you will get piece of mind and make yourself much less attractive to criminals.

If you have any information or we can be of any further assistance to you please get in touch.

Thank you.
